How does it work?

Normally an appeal for help will be made by a social worker, or in an emergency a responsible relative or professional carer (such as a doctor or police officer) who contacts your local volunteer Area Organiser.

Our Area Organiser will take the details of the animal to foster, the date and length of stay required and then allocate the pet to a suitable available volunteer foster carer.

Two forms must be filled in and signed before the foster period starts

1. Foster Request Form - so that the fostering arrangements are clearly understood. Any accompanying written details of the pet's daily routine, diet and any special needs are also helpful.

2. PFSS Authorisation Form - must be signed as without this form our foster carers cannot get a vet to treat your pet if necessary.

The social worker requesting help is then asked to take responsibility for the local arrangements such as transport.
