How you can help

Pet Fostering Service Scotland provides free care for the pets of owners in emergency situations. The cost of organising pet foster care homes, arranging the foster care and funding veterinary hardship cases is provided for by fundraising, we do not charge for our foster service.

We do encourage anyone who has used the foster service to donate if possible, no matter however small a donation.

PFSS is always very grateful for any donation however large or small, we are a low overhead charity and all funds are focussed on the care of foster pets and all the organisation required to provide the service.

DONATE*

DONATE

PFSS is now in its 40th year of helping people and their pets in Scotland. PFSS has recently collaborated with DONATE* to help us raise more funds for the PFSS Hardship fund. Whilst in foster, we often provide basic pet food and accessories such as bedding and dog leads for our foster pets, if their owners are unable provide or fund this during the foster period. We also provide essential vet care for our foster pets. These costs are covered by the PFSS Hardship fund, which, during the current cost of living crisis is being accessed more than ever before.

With each text donation we hope to be able to continue to meet these essential costs for each of our pets whilst in foster care. A £1 donation will feed a foster cat for a day, £3 will provide a cat in foster with clean litter for a week, with each £10 donation, we can feed one of our foster pets for up to 2 weeks. A £20 donation can provide a comfortable bed, food and water bowls for a dog in foster care with PFSS. A £50 donation can pay for a vet consultation for a pet who becomes ill whilst in foster care. All the donations Pet Fostering Service Scotland receives through the DONATE scheme will go towards helping pets whose owner’s need to access our Hardship fund and for other charitable purposes.

* Fundraising, payments and donations will be processed and administered by the National Funding Scheme, operating as DONATE, a charity registered in England and Wales (1149800) and Scotland (SC045106). Leave a gift in your Will

PFSS has been helping pets and their owners since 1985. Key to our work is not only the welfare of pets but also the wellbeing of the owner, facing the dilemma of how to survive their particular ‘unfortunate’ situation while being able to hold on to the companionship that their much loved pet provides…….in a personal world which is collapsing.

PFSS provides that bridge to a time when the owner and pet can be reunited and the companionship restored. The anticipation of which helps many psychologically, through their difficult time.

We rely on donations to manage this service and also provide veterinary care when needed; so choosing to leave a gift to PFSS in your Will ensures the welfare of these pets and owners will continue, reflecting on your love of pets.

If you wish to consider the step of a legacy to PFSS, please seek professional advice form a Solicitor. You can also discuss any questions about our work with the PFSS Treasurer.
